Terms of Service

Welcome to Sereni! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sereni mobile application and services (collectively, the "Service"). By using Sereni, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Sereni, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Sereni. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained permission from your parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

3. Account Registration

3.1 Account Creation

• You may create an account using email, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account

4. Service Description

Sereni provides a personalized Quran companion experience with the following features:

4.1 Free Features

• Daily personalized Ayah based on onboarding preferences
• Daily Hadith and Dua
• Basic Quran browser
• Streak tracking
• XP and level system
• Basic achievements (10 badges)
• Limited daily quizzes (1/day)
• Limited AI chat (5/day)

4.2 Premium Features (Sereni Pro)

• Daily mood selection for personalized content
• Unlimited daily quizzes
• Unlimited AI chat
• Memorization mode with spaced repetition
• Advanced progress analytics
• Full achievements library (30+ badges)
• Offline access
• Night reflection mode
• Priority support

5. Premium Subscriptions

5.1 Billing

• Premium subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play Store
• Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account (iOS) or Google Play Account (Android) at confirmation of purchase
• Subscription prices are displayed in the app and on the respective app store product page. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change
• Payment is processed by Apple or Google, not directly by Sereni

5.2 Subscription Options

• Monthly subscription
• Annual subscription (with savings)
• Lifetime purchase (one-time)

5.3 Auto-Renewal

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• You can manage and cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account settings

5.4 Cancellation and Refunds

• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Play Store account
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• No refunds are provided for partial billing periods
• Refund policies are governed by Apple's App Store or Google Play Store terms

5.5 Free Trials

• Free trials, if offered, give you premium access for the trial period
• You may be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before the trial period expires
• Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription
• Eligibility for free trials is determined by Apple or Google

5.6 Restore Purchases

• If you reinstall Sereni, switch devices, or need to restore your subscription, you can restore your purchases through the app settings
• Restoration requires signing in with the same Apple ID or Google account used for the original purchase
• If you experience issues restoring purchases, please contact support@sereniapp.com

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
• Upload, transmit, or distribute any viruses, malware, or harmful code
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service
• Misuse the AI chat feature for inappropriate or harmful purposes
• Attempt to circumvent subscription requirements or feature limitations

7. Content

7.1 Quranic and Islamic Content

• Sereni provides Quranic verses, hadiths, and duas for spiritual and educational purposes
• While we strive for accuracy, we recommend consulting with qualified Islamic scholars for religious rulings
• The content is not intended to replace formal Islamic education

7.2 Your Content

• You retain ownership of personal notes and reflections you create in Sereni
• You grant us a license to store and process your content to provide the Service
• You are responsible for the content you create

7.3 AI-Generated Content

• AI responses in the chat feature are generated by artificial intelligence
• AI content is for general guidance and should not replace advice from qualified scholars
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated responses

8. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

8.1 Data Security

• We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data
• However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure
• You use the Service at your own risk

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Rights

• Sereni, including all content, features, and functionality (excluding Quranic text), is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws
• You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service
• You may not reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code

9.2 Trademarks

Sereni and its logos are trademarks and may not be used without permission

10. Third-Party Services

Sereni integrates with third-party services:

• Apple Sign-In: For authentication (subject to Apple's terms)
• Google Sign-In: For authentication (subject to Google's terms)
• RevenueCat: For subscription management (subject to RevenueCat's terms)
• OneSignal: For push notifications (subject to OneSignal's terms)
• Supabase: For data storage and backend services

We are not responsible for third-party services or their terms.

11. Termination

11.1 By You

• You may delete your account at any time through the app settings
• Deleting your Sereni account does not automatically cancel your App Store or Play Store subscription. You must manage and cancel subscriptions separately through your Apple ID settings or Google Play Store settings
• Your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy

11.2 By Us

• We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
• We may discontinue the Service at any time with or without notice
• We are not liable for any termination of your access to the Service

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Any errors will be corrected
• The Service will meet your requirements
• Any content or information will be accurate or reliable
• AI-generated responses will be accurate or appropriate for your situation

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Content you submit or share through the Service

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitute acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.

17. Dispute Resolution

17.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us.

17.2 Arbitration

Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except you may assert claims in small claims court if they qualify.

17.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis, not as a class action or representative proceeding.

18. General Provisions

18.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us.

18.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

18.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver.

18.4 Assignment

You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms to any affiliate or successor.

18.5 Apple App Store Terms

If you downloaded Sereni from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:

• These Terms are between you and Sereni only, not with Apple. Sereni, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Service and its content
• Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the Service
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the Service
• Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, or discharge of any intellectual property infringement claim
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary
